The former member of the Saudi Western crew has managed to do what very few other hip hop artists in S.A. have done... Break the commercial market. By now most headz and non hip hop lovers know the banger hit 'We on Fire' that features Maggz, Da L.E.S. and Bongz. After the response that the single got, HYPEmobi decided to get in touch with Maggz to talk about the swagger of S.A. hip hop.
HYPE: Was there ever a time when you thought S.A. wasn’t ready for your swagger style?
Maggz: I’ve never doubted the style we do, commercialised or not. I knew it would work in SA it just needed to be done right.
HYPE: Why do you think so few cats have been able to break the commercial market with the style you do?
Maggz: With swag… Well its either you have it or you don’t. You can’t fake the funk you digggg…
